August 25 Prospect Lake Small Craft Tourney Results

Greetings!

The results from the Small Craft Series event #5 are in. Well, it was a pretty brutal day out there on Prospect lake, with just the top 3 filling their 3 fish limits. The weather, for the most part, was decent. A bit of wind constant throughout the day, but it was dry, and had some sunny periods thrown in. Most competitors reported a ton of undersized fish being caught, but the big ones stayed in hiding. Lucky for us it's more than just catching fish - meeting up, sharing stories, before, during and after competition, is worth the trip in itself.

Here are the results:

  • In 1st place , this might take you by surprise - Dean Rudolph with a 3 fish limit of 52.5"! Way to go bud, nice bag, on a hard day.

  • Dean, on top of the pot, wins a $100 gift card to Harbour Chandler that was generously donated to us by Jonathan and Tristan Harwood of Mr. Sparkle Exterior Cleaning.

  • In 2nd place Mr. Sparkle himself, Tristan Harwood, with a 3 fish limit totaling 44.25". Tristan figured out his fish weren't up shallow, and found his bag offshore. Nice work out there!

  • In 3rd place the South African Smasher, Wes Du Plessis, with a 3 fish limit of 42.25". Tough day, but you made it work! Way to go buddy!

  • Big fish was a tie, 18.25" and goes to Jake and Dean.

We will be doing the Championships a little bit different from last year. We are just working out the details, and will let you know after our next committee meeting.

Thanks for coming out! It was great seeing you all!

Cheers

August 11 Quennell Lake Boater Series Tourney Results

What a day on Quennell Lake, our last stop of the boater series before the Championship! The weather was with us today, with overcast skies for a good part of the day, and even a little rain shower to get the bite going again.

For most, the big ones were in hiding, but as always with Quennell lake, a couple slabs chose to have a nibble on what was being offered. So here we go the top 3 teams, big fish winner, and the big fish Jr winner are as follows:

  • In 1st place the team of Justin Booth and alternate angler, Collette Booth with a 5 fish limit totaling 88". Tyrone must be happy that his spot on the boat was well taken care of by mom in his absence. Well done Booths!

  • In 2nd place, also with a alternate angler, the team of Dave Pedersen and Danielle Jeanson with a 5 fish limit totalling 83.5". Jesse Mcmullan was stoked to hear that his spot was in good hands in his absence. Nice work out there today!

  • And in 3rd place, needing no alternate, is the one-man hammer Jake Watson with a 5 fish limit totaling 82.25". From what I saw today, Jake, solo, was left to do whatever he wanted to, and whatever he was doing was working. Nice fishing today buddy, congrats!

  • Big fish of the tournament goes to Steve Gregory-Allen with a tank measuring in at 20.5”! Nice fish bud!

  • Big fish for the Jr's, goes to Levi Mackie, with a 15.75". Nice fish buddy! Levi will receive a cool $25 for his efforts.

Thank you goes out to every angler that joined us for a boater series event this season! You are the WFL, and the whole reason this league is working, and we are having a blast organizing it all. It was great meeting, and sharing waters with you!

Hope to see you at the Championship, and if not, on the water soon.

Cheers!

July 20 Elk/Beaver Lake Boater Series Tourney Results

Greetings Anglers!

What a awesome day for a event on Elk Lake! Winds were mild, boat traffic was low and, for the most part, the fish were biting - especially for one team, becoming our first team to enter the WFL Century Club!

Here are the results:

  • In 1st place were Justin Booth and Tyrone Warth with a 5 fish limit totaling a whopping 100.25"! I'm not sure what they were doing, but they were doing it right, saying afterwards, "it was their best day ever", and it absolutely was! Congratulations boyz, that's a phenomenal day!

  • In 2nd place were Daniel Pudwell and Steve Gregory-Allen with a 5 fish limit of 97.5". Great day out there guys, well done!

  • In 3rd place were Erick Pay and Catherine Pleasance with a 5 fish limit of 87". Another podium finish, congrats you two!

  • We also have our first ever, 4-way tie for big fish! Justin, Tyrone, Daniel and Steve - all with 20.5" tanks! Awesome!

It's a great time, when this group gets together. Lots of laughs and good fish stories at the boat launch!

One more season event left at Quennell Lake, in August. Hope to see you there!

Tight lines!

July 9 Long Lake Small Craft Tourney Results

What a brutal day out on Long lake for the 4th stop of the Small Craft Series! The will-crushing wind was relentless, killing arms, legs and batteries. With that being said, we love to fish and that's what we were there to do.

The fishing was tough and spotty, and some couldn't find enough quality fish to fill their limits. Here are our results:

  • Coming in 1st was Jake Watson with a 3 fish limit of 48". In the boat with Jake was his son and Jr angler Issac, who boated a 13.5” smallie. Jake gets the 1st place pot, and $100 gift card to Harbour Chandler that was generously donated to us by Jonathan and Tristan of Mr. Sparkle Exterior Cleaning. Issac received a Jr prize pack from our sponsors, Chip Benedict and the crew at Harbour Chandler and Kyle William and the crew at Rapala, & VMC Hooks. Well done boys!

  • Coming in 2nd was Mr. Second Place himself, Freddy Landman with a 3 fish limit of 38.5". Freddy travels from the mainland to fish with us, camps, the whole nine yards, and we appreciate his presence and efforts, especially after a day like today! Nice fishing bud!

  • In 3rd place was Jordan Khayat with 2 fish totaling 31.75". Jordan, like the rest of us, battled the wind hard today and was rewarded with 2 decent fish. Nice work out there today, way to grind it out!

  • Big bass goes to Jesse Mcmullan with a 18.25 slab! Nice fish bud!

As always we want to thank our sponsors for their support. You guys rock!

June 16 Father’s Day Island Open Big Bass Tourney Results

The results from the Father's Day Open are in! It looks Like most of the anglers were fishing, Elk lake or Quennell lake. There seemed to be a lot of interest going into this event, but surprisingly low numbers of competitors. Thinking it must have been the weather reports that kept numbers down.

Here are our results:

  • The big ones were in hiding for most angler's, but not for Stu Simpson who found a slab 20.25" Smallmouth and took the win! Congratulations Stu, nice work!

  • In 2nd place with a 19.5" Shawnigan Lake Smallmouth, Jordan Holtzhauer. Congrats Jordan, well done!

  • In 3rd place is Jake Watson with a 19.25" Elk/ Beaver Lake Largemouth. Congrats bud, nice fish!

Cool to see the top 3 come from 3 different lakes!

Congratulations to all the anglers!

We would like to give a shout out to the kids that entered the competition, Jordan, Ryden, Scarlett, Holden, Regan and Mason who all kissed some fish during competition. We will put together a little prize pack from our sponsors, Harbour Chandler, Rapala & VMC and will do a draw in the next day or two. Well done kids!

Unfortunately committee member Jesse Mcmullan and his daughter's email did not go through, for some reason, and their fish were not scored. Both with a couple nice fish caught. We will look into this in hopes it doesn't happen again.

Thanks anglers!

Hope you all had a great Father's Day!!

June 9 Langford Lake Small Craft Tourney Results

Good evening anglers!

Although we had a small group out for this one, quite a few big fish were submitted, 5, 20" or better. One a being 21.25 monster, and our big fish of the day, caught by Mr. Sparkle himself, Tristan Harwood. Awesome catch bud, congrats!

The abnormally clear water conditions on Langford Lake for this time of year, and it being post spawn, had visible fish with lock jaw, and after the morning bite was over the fishing got tough, with the odd fish being caught here and there.

Here are our results:

  • In 1st place Dean Rudolph with a 3 fish limit totaling 58.25". Dean also takes home the $100 gift card to Harbour Chandler that was generously donated to us by Jonathan and Tristan of Mr. Sparkle Exterior Cleaning. Congratulations Dean!

  • In 2nd place Freddy Landman with a 3 fish limit totaling 54.25". Freddy travels to compete with us, it's nice to see you having a good showing bud. Congratulations!

  • In 3rd place Jesse Mcmullan with a 3 fish limit totaling 51.5". Jesse picking up his biggest fish late in the day, with what looked to be a wicked battle. Way to go buddy! Congrats!

Shout out to Oliver Margetts-Montgomery who joined us for the first time, good to meet you bud, nice fishing out there.

Hope to see you all at the next event

June 2 Shawnigan Lake Boater Tourney Results

Good evening to all the competitors from today's event on Shawnigan lake.

What a day eh? The rain was enough to soak through your gear. Lucky for us the bite is usually better in weather like this, and today was no exception

Most of the field filled their limit and then some. Cookie cutter 16"s were being tossed back like they were 12s.

Here are the competitors that found the right ones:

  • In 1st place The SA Hammers who are no strangers to the podium. Justin Booth and Tyrone Warth with a impressive 5 fish limit totalling 95.75". Justin also took the big bass pot with a 20.25" tank. Congratulations guys, well done.

  • In 2nd place Erick Pay and Catherine Pleasance with a big 5 fish limit of 92.75". Word at the dock was that Erick and Catherine had a phenomenal day, Erick himself saying that this was one of their best days in competition yet. Congratulations to you both. Nice work out there.

  • And in 3rd place, Kevin Fleming and Mike Woods with a nice 5 fish limit of 90.25". These guys are becoming very familiar with the WFL podium in their short time being members, and I'm sure we will be seeing them again in the top 3, in the future. Well done boys

Hats off to you all for sticking it out(if you did). It was definitely grueling at times.

See ya'll at the next stop

May 11 Elk/Beaver Small Craft Tourney Results

Launching from the Row Club, some decided to go straight to Beaver, while others started fishing Elk right off the launch.

Landing in first place was Aaron Broadbent with a 3 fish limit of 58.75"!

Aaron was one of the anglers that dropped a line right off the launch and first cast landed a 19" from the row docks, later replacing it with a 19.25.

Great weather, great fishing and great people, made this day on the water most enjoyable

The second boater series event was held at Quennell Lake this past Saturday, May 4.

17 Teams took off from Zuiderzee Campsite at 7am in serch of the biggest 5 fish limit.

MARCH 16! What a day for what we think will be a annual event, the WFL Icebreaker Open!

I believe we had 43 entries, with anglers mainly spread out over three lakes, Elk/Beaver, Shawnigan and Quennell, these lakes did not disappoint.

Many of the anglers named in the results below having multiple catches, and others that didn't send In their catches for unknown reasons

With that being said, let's get down to business

Coming in 1st Sawyer Nottelman with a behemoth 21.25" of Beaver lake bass! Well done bud!

Sawyer takes home $387.00 for his efforts

Now these next two are no strangers to the podium, FFS or not, these guys are a force to be reckoned with, and guaranteed to land on the podium in the future

In 2nd place Tyrone Warth with a tank 20" slab earning him a cool $232.20! Nice work Ty!

In 3rd place Justin Booth with a impressive 19" hawg, pocketing himself $154.80 for his day of fishin! Congrats Justin!

All in all, a great day on the water

We would like to thank everyone who took part in this event.

It was good to see everyone out enjoying this awesome fishery we have!
